A 14-year-old girl engaged in child labour was rescued from the residence of Samajwadi Party MLA Zahid Beg in Bhadohi, officials reported. She was immediately handed over to a social organization for her safekeeping after appearing before the Child Welfare Committee.

The rescue operation, conducted by Bhadohi police and Labour Enforcement Department personnel, came after a raid on Beg's house on Tuesday. The girl underwent a medical examination before being presented to the Child Welfare Committee Chairman, PC Upadhyay. The committee ordered her placement under the care of the 'One Stop Centre' social organization, according to Circle Officer Ajay Kumar Chauhan.

The police have launched an investigation, although the Labour Enforcement Department has stated that it will not be registering a case. This raid follows the recent death of another domestic help, Nazia, who had been working at Beg's residence for eight years and was found hanging in her room the previous day.
