Russian Tu-160 strategic bombers conducted flights over the Barents and Norwegian seas as a component of the major 'Ocean-2024' naval exercise, according to a statement from the Russian defence ministry, relayed by the RIA news agency on Wednesday.

The flights are an integral part of the 'Ocean-2024' drills, which commenced a day earlier.

These exercises, the largest since the Soviet era, will involve a staggering 90,000 servicemen, 400 vessels, and 125 aircraft. Spanning a broad geographical area, the exercises will continue until September 16, covering the Pacific and Arctic Oceans, as well as the Mediterranean, Baltic, and Caspian seas.
