A police officer and a teenager lost their lives in a tragic vehicle accident in Arunachal Pradesh's Lohit district. The incident also left another police personnel seriously injured. The accident transpired near Dus Nallah in Demwe area on Tuesday, as confirmed by police.

According to D Singpho, officer in-charge of Tezu police station, the trio was returning from a friend's house in Wakro. Arunachal Pradesh Police Battalion head constable T Arang, who was driving the car, and his 17-year-old relative, Aboh Wangsu, died instantly. Constable Wanjan Lowang sustained severe injuries.

Originally from Tirap district, Arang and Lowang were posted in Tezu. Authorities suspect the driver lost control while negotiating a sharp turn, sending the vehicle plunging 500-600 meters into a gorge. Lowang, found 200-300 meters below the road, was first taken to Tezu Zonal General Hospital and later referred to Assam's Dibrugarh for advanced treatment. The deceased's bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.
