Iran Dismisses Weapons Transfers Allegations Amid Rising Western Sanctions
Iran has dismissed allegations of transferring weapons to Russia, calling them 'ugly propaganda' to hide Western military support for Israel. This comes as the U.S. and European nations announce new sanctions on Tehran. Iran vows a proportionate response, criticizing the new economic measures as harmful to its people.
Reports of Iranian weapons transfers to Russia are being dismissed as 'ugly propaganda' by Tehran, aimed at masking Western military support to Israel, according to a statement from Iran's foreign ministry on Tuesday.
'The publication of false and misleading reports about the transfer of Iranian weapons to some countries is simply an ugly propaganda to conceal the large illegal arms support of the United States and some Western countries for the genocide in Gaza,' said foreign ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani in a post on X. The statement came as Western nations, including the U.S., Britain, Germany, and France, announced new sanctions on Iran, citing weapon transfers to Russia.
Alongside these sanctions, London, Berlin, and Paris have canceled bilateral air services agreements with Tehran. Kanaani warned that such measures, which he termed as economic terrorism, would provoke a proportionate response from Iran. Despite already being heavily sanctioned, Iran remains defiant, with experts questioning the efficacy of further economic penalties on the country's middle class.
