Manipur Police have firmly rejected recent statements by Lt. Gen P C Nair, a retired DG of Assam Rifles, suggesting that drones and rockets were not used in recent attacks. Evidence, including recovered drone parts and rocket tails, refutes these claims, according to a top police official.
IGP (Administration) K Jayanta Singh described Nair's statements as lacking maturity and personal, not representative of the Assam Rifles' official stance. He emphasized that the Manipur Police comprises various communities, including Nagas, Meiteis, and Manipuri Muslims, among others.
Amid ongoing student protests, police have urged for peaceful demonstrations and warned against incitement of violence. They noted the critical need for security forces in fringe areas, where recent violence has resulted in casualties and significant unrest.
