A 21-year-old man in Denmark has been arrested on charges of arson after allegedly setting a fire at a Jewish woman's residence in Copenhagen. The suspect now faces preliminary terrorism charges, which, if formalized, could lead to a life sentence.

Authorities stated that preliminary charges allow them to detain suspects while investigations are ongoing. In Denmark, a life sentence typically equates to 16 years in prison. The incident occurred on May 29, when the man and unidentified accomplices reportedly set fire to balcony furniture at the victim's home. The fire was quickly extinguished by firefighters, and no injuries were reported.

Danish media disclosed that the man pleaded not guilty through his defense attorney during a court hearing. Under a court order, neither party involved can be named. The Danish Security and Intelligence Service confirmed the suspect's ties to the banned immigrant gang, Loyal to Familia.

''It is serious if a person in Denmark becomes a target of terror because of their Jewish background. It is also worrying that we again see links to LTF in terrorist cases,'' said Finn Borch Andersen, head of the security agency. He further noted the difficulty in determining whether this was an isolated incident or part of a broader terrorist threat.

In a separate statement, the Jewish Community in Denmark described the attack as terrifying despite no injuries. The security agency has warned of an intensified terrorist threat against Jewish and Israeli targets in Denmark, particularly due to the ongoing conflict in Israel and Gaza.
