Tyreek Hill Involved in Contentious Traffic Stop Caught on Cam

New footage emerged Monday capturing Miami-Dade police officers forcefully extracting Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill from his car during a tense traffic stop just before his team's home opener. Reuters has not yet independently authenticated the footage, which was uploaded to attorney Ben Crump's X page as police body cam video.

The video opens with an officer questioning Hill through his open window about his lack of a seatbelt. The situation quickly escalates when Hill partially rolls up his window, prompting the officer to demand he roll it back down. Another officer hurries over, opens the car door, and forcefully pulls Hill out, pressing him into the pavement and handcuffing him with a knee on his back.

The officers then lift Hill and lead him to the sidewalk, where they direct him to sit. Hill expresses concern due to a recent knee surgery, but an officer grabs him by the neck and forces him into a seated position. The Miami-Dade Police Department has launched an Internal Affairs investigation, placing one officer on administrative duty. The Dolphins and NFL have yet to comment on the matter.

Hill, a five-time All-Pro, participated in the game and scored an 80-yard touchdown, despite the incident. He stated post-game that he complied with police orders. Earlier, a union for Miami-Dade officers claimed Hill had not cooperated and was driving dangerously. Hill was handcuffed for officer safety, according to the union president Steadman Stahl, who added that Hill refused to sit on the ground and was redirected. Hill received two traffic citations and was released shortly after.

In the game, Hill made seven catches for 130 yards and marked his touchdown with a handcuffed celebration gesture. The union awaits the investigation's outcome but currently supports the officers' actions based on available information.
