U.S. Calls for Thorough Investigation into Killing of American Turkish Woman in West Bank

The United States has called on Israel to complete a comprehensive investigation into the recent killing of an American Turkish woman in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. The woman, 26-year-old Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, was shot while participating in a protest against settlement expansion, according to Turkish and Palestinian officials.

U.S. State Department deputy spokesperson Vedant Patel stated that Israel is believed to have initiated a probe into the incident. Patel emphasized the importance of the investigation being thorough and transparent, with findings expected to be made public. White House national security spokesperson John Kirby confirmed that Israel is moving swiftly on this investigation and will present its findings soon.

The incident reportedly occurred during a regular protest in the village of Beita near Nablus. Israel's military is reviewing the circumstances of Eygi's death. Meanwhile, Turkey's President Tayyip Erdogan condemned the killing and vowed to combat Israel's policies. The U.S. and other Western allies have expressed concerns over an increase in violent settler attacks in the West Bank.
