In a tragic incident, two boys drowned in a Ganga canal in Uttar Pradesh's Hardoi district, officials reported Monday.
The victims, identified as 13-year-old Kaushal and 12-year-old Anshu, were part of a group visiting the river for a religious ceremony. Despite swift efforts by villagers, they could not be rescued on time.
The bodies were recovered after an intense search lasting an hour and a half. Both boys were students, with Kaushal in Class 8 and Anshu in Class 5. Additional Superintendent of Police Martand Pratap Singh confirmed that post-mortem procedures are underway.
