The police have taken down controversial signboards that were placed at village entrances in Guptkashi, aimed at prohibiting 'outsiders' from entering. The move followed after initial boards, targeting 'non-Hindus,' were rephrased after intervention.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Prabodh Kumar Ghildiyal stated that such signboards cannot be allowed and emphasized maintaining social harmony. He urged locals to report any suspicious individuals by dialing 112.
Locals installed the signboards in response to recent thefts at temples and homes, allegedly by 'outsiders.' The boards were found in multiple villages, including Sirsi and Rampur-Nyalsu.
