The Telangana High Court has mandated the state Legislative Assembly Secretary to bring forward the disqualification petitions against three BRS MLAs, who defected to the ruling Congress, to the Assembly Speaker.

Justice B Vijaysen Reddy instructed the Speaker's office to issue a hearing schedule within four weeks, with the timeline to be communicated to the High Court's Registrar. Should the schedule not be communicated within this frame, the High Court retains the right to reopen the petitions for hearing.

Petitioners K P Vivekanand and P Kaushik Reddy from BRS, along with BJP floor leader Alleti Maheshwar Reddy, had approached the High Court to expedite the Speaker's decision on the disqualification petitions. BRS Working President K T Rama Rao celebrated the directive as a triumph for democracy and transparency.
