A Russian military drone carrying explosives intended for Ukraine crashed in Latvia on Saturday, according to Latvian officials.
National Armed Forces Commander Lieutenant General Leonids Kalnins revealed that the drone was of the Iranian-designed Shahed type and its explosives were deactivated after landing near the village of Gaigalava, 60 miles from the Belarus border.
NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoana condemned the incidents, describing them as 'irresponsible and potentially dangerous,' although he clarified there was no evidence of a deliberate attack on NATO member-states.
