The Telangana High Court has directed the state Legislative Assembly Secretary to present disqualification petitions against three BRS MLAs who shifted to Congress before the Telangana Assembly Speaker. Justice B Vijaysen Reddy ruled that the Speaker's office must provide a schedule within four weeks for hearing and deciding on the petitions. This schedule must also be communicated to the Registrar of the High Court.
Should the schedule not be communicated within the stipulated time, the High Court will independently reopen the petitions, the judge stated.
The petitioners, BRS MLAs K P Vivekanand and P Kaushik Reddy, along with BJP floor leader in Assembly Alleti Maheshwar Reddy, sought the High Court's directive to compel the Speaker to address the disqualification petitions against the three MLAs.
