The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on Monday sought to clarify misinformation regarding a High Court order on the drowning of a mother and her child in an open drain near Ghazipur paper market.
According to the DDA, the drain where the incident occurred falls under the jurisdiction of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). Last Thursday, the High Court mandated that the DDA pay Rs 20 lakh in compensation to the victims' legal heirs.
The DDA refuted claims made by AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar, insisting that the drain is the MCD's responsibility. The DDA emphasized that its agreement to pay compensation was a humanitarian move, not an admission of liability.
