Manhunt Underway: Shooter on the Loose in Kentucky
Joseph Couch, suspected of opening fire on cars along Interstate 75 in Kentucky, remains at large after a daylong manhunt. Five people were injured in the shooting. Authorities urge residents to stay vigilant. Search efforts include a helicopter, drone, and collaboration among various law enforcement agencies.
Kentucky law enforcement agencies are in a race against time as they pursue Joseph Couch, the suspect behind a shooting spree along Interstate 75. Couch was identified after authorities found a vehicle registered to him and an AR-style rifle near the scene. Five individuals were injured, but all are reported to be in stable condition.
The shootings occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, when Couch allegedly fired from a cliff at vehicles traveling on a remote stretch of the interstate. At a press conference, Captain Richard Dalrymple revealed that Couch purchased his weapon and ammunition just hours before the incident. The motive remains unknown.
Local residents have been advised to lock their doors and avoid the manhunt area as federal, state, and local agencies continue their search, which includes the use of a helicopter and drone with infrared technology. Public schools in Laurel County canceled Monday classes as a precaution.
