A horrific incident has come to light in Odisha's Dhenkanal district, where a young woman was reportedly gang-raped for several consecutive days in a deserted house, an official disclosed on Sunday.
The police have detained four individuals in connection with the case. Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida has intervened, instructing Dhenkanal SP to ensure strict action against those involved in this heinous crime.
The incident surfaced after officials from a SAKHI centre, an organization that supports women affected by violence, lodged a formal complaint with the police. The victim, whose family lives in dire conditions, has been moved to a SAKHI centre where she recounted the ordeal. Police investigations are underway with SP directly supervising the case.
