Three civilians sustained injuries when Ukrainian shells struck the town of Shebekino in Russia's Belgorod region, according to regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov on Saturday.

Ambulance crews transported a woman in serious condition with shrapnel wounds to the back and thigh, and a man with a shrapnel wound to the chest, to the regional clinical hospital. A third person was hospitalized with a shrapnel wound to the thigh.

Two houses and four outbuildings also caught fire as a result of the shelling. Belgorod has been a frequent target of shelling and drone attacks from Ukraine throughout the war, particularly following a cross-border attack last month.
