The Rajasthan Police have rolled out a 'Standard Operating Procedure' (SOP) aimed at safeguarding married couples and those in close relationships seeking protection, as confirmed by an officer on Saturday.

Additional Director General of Police (Civil Rights) Bhupendra Sahu announced that the SOP was issued in alignment with a directive from the Rajasthan High Court, Jaipur, dated August 2.

As per the order, couples residing in the state, whether married or in close relationships, can file protection applications either personally, through a representative, or via an advocate. If under threat, they must submit a representation for protection to the designated nodal officer.

Couples can lodge complaints through various channels including dialing 112, women helpline number 1090, state level WhatsApp number 8764871150, district level WhatsApp helpline, police control room numbers, or via email to district-level control rooms.

According to the SOP, the nodal officer is responsible for offering immediate interim relief. The guidelines mandate audio and video recordings of the applicants' statements under CCTV surveillance. If the couples are found to be in genuine danger, the police will ensure their security; otherwise, clear reasons for the denial of security will be provided.
