In a historic op-ed, CIA Director William Burns and MI6 Chief Richard Moore stressed the importance of sustained support for Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression. Published in the Financial Times on Saturday, the article marks the first-ever joint authorship by heads of these agencies.
The intelligence leaders emphasized that the cooperation between CIA and MI6 is central to the 'special relationship' between the United States and Britain. They celebrated 75 years of partnership and reiterated their united stance against an assertive Russia and President Vladimir Putin's war against Ukraine.
They further criticized Moscow's use of sabotage and disinformation campaigns, highlighting their own agencies' reorganization to address the rise of China and ongoing efforts in the Middle East to de-escalate tensions. Burns, as the chief U.S. negotiator, is particularly focused on reaching a truce in Gaza.
