Gurugram Police have successfully apprehended five individuals, among them two women, in connection with a Rs 6.70 lakh fraud case. The suspects were arrested by the crime unit, Sector 40, on Thursday night.
The allegations stem from a complaint filed on April 23 by a woman who claimed that in February, the suspects had moved into her Jyoti Park colony home under the guise of tenants. They reportedly coaxed her into paying Rs 6 lakh for cheap gold purportedly from Dubai and an additional Rs 70,000 for branded clothes.
After securing the money, the suspects allegedly fled, leaving the woman without the promised goods. The arrested individuals have been named as Prem Kumar, Naveen Kumar, Rajni Verma, Kavita, and Sachin Kumar. The police spokesperson confirmed ongoing investigations to recover the defrauded amount.
