An 11-year-old girl sustained a fractured ankle after an elevator she was in fell three floors in Gurugram's Raheja Vedanta society, police reported on Friday. The incident led to a complaint filed by the parents against OTIS Elevator Co. and the society's RWA president.
Himika Khurana, the girl's mother, recounted that the terrifying accident occurred on August 20, when the elevator gave a violent jerk as its doors closed, causing her daughter to fall. The injury has significantly affected the young girl's well-being and academic performance.
Despite multiple complaints about the lift's issues over the past year, no effective action was taken, Khurana alleged. A similar incident occurred on September 1, raising further concerns about the maintenance practices. Police have registered an FIR for negligent conduct and are investigating the matter.
