Ex-Mayor Alice Guo Deported to Philippines Amid Criminal Allegations

Alice Guo, former mayor of Bamban, Philippines, arrived in Manila on Friday after being deported from Indonesia. She faces serious accusations, including money laundering and connections to Chinese criminal organizations.

Guo, who also goes by Guo Hua Ping, was arrested in Indonesia after evading a Philippine Senate investigation since July. Philippine law enforcement and the anti-money laundering council have charged Guo and 35 others with multiple counts of money laundering.

During a press briefing upon her arrival, Guo denied the accusations and claimed to have received death threats, requesting protection from Philippine authorities. The Senate's probe into Guo began in May after a casino raid allegedly unearthed scam operations. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has urged Guo to come clean on her involvement with offshore gaming operators.
