Harvey Weinstein has been spared prosecution in Britain but now faces potential new charges in New York. Prosecutors there are considering up to three additional sexual assault allegations against the disgraced movie mogul.
In Britain, the Crown Prosecution Service discontinued their case against Weinstein, citing a lack of realistic prospect of conviction. Nevertheless, New York prosecutors are actively pursuing new charges, following the overturning of Weinstein's 2020 rape and sexual assault convictions.
The New York grand jury is expected to vote on an indictment by the end of the week. If approved, the new charges could be combined with previous ones for a retrial slated for November. Weinstein remains in custody as legal battles continue over his alleged crimes.
