Indian Cyber-Security Agencies Uncover MoD Phishing Fraud

Indian cyber-security agencies identified a phishing attack imitating the Ministry of Defence's official website to steal government officials' login credentials. The National Informatics Centre (NIC) issued an advisory warning officials about the fake URLs, urging them to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures against such attacks.

Indian cyber-security agencies have uncovered a sophisticated phishing fraud that mimics the official website of the Ministry of Defence, aiming to harvest the log-in credentials of officials and steal sensitive government documents.

The National Informatics Centre (NIC) issued an advisory this week identifying two phishing links—mod.gov.in.aboutcase.nl/publications.html and mod.gov.in.army.aboutcase.nl/publications.html—designed to deceive government officials into providing their NIC log-in credentials.

The fraudulent e-mail, which includes a fake document titled 'Hackers Targeted Defence Personnel in Mass Cyber Attack,' redirects users to a 'login-error.html' page upon entering their login details, compromising their information.
