Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma announced the formation of a joint committee to investigate allegations made by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma against the University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM).
Sarma has accused USTM of contributing to severe waterlogging in Guwahati by demolishing hills for new structures, also labeling the university's gate designs as Islamic. Furthermore, Sarma claims that USTM's Chancellor Mahbabul Haque fraudulently obtained an OBC certificate 32 years ago.
Sangma stated that chief secretaries from both states are already in contact to establish the committee, aiming to resolve these issues and any additional concerns, starting its function within a week.
