Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed confusion on Thursday regarding France's actions against Telegram founder Pavel Durov, who was recently placed under formal investigation.
Putin, speaking at an economic forum, said that he had met Durov once, years ago, but had not maintained contact or seen him since. It's worth noting that Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov mentioned last month that he was not aware of any meeting between Durov and Putin.
France's investigation into Durov centers on the use of the Telegram platform for alleged crimes including fraud, money laundering, and child pornography. Durov's lawyer has denounced the proceedings as absurd.
