In a significant development during Punjab's assembly session, Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa on Wednesday confronted Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan over altering his stance on a pivotal issue. The controversy centers on a case involving an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) who allegedly accepted money from a gangster.

During Zero Hour on the final day of the three-day session, Bajwa pointed out that the Speaker initially sought a report from the state's police chief (DGP), a move approved by the House. However, Sandhwan shifted his request to the home secretary for a detailed report on 'black sheep' in various departments.

Addressing the Assembly, Bajwa emphasized that changing the order without the House's approval contradicts the established norm. In response, Sandhwan upheld his decision, stating it aligns with the House's intent to combat corruption, signalling a robust stance against malpractice in governance.
