The Muslim faction has taken their legal battle to the Supreme Court, challenging the Allahabad High Court's decision that dismissed their plea questioning the validity of 18 cases concerning the Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah dispute in Mathura.
The Committee of Management Trust, Shahi Masjid Idgah, represented by advocate RHA Sikander, filed the plea seeking a review of the August 1 High Court order. Sikander confirmed that the Supreme Court is expected to hear their case next week.
The High Court had previously ruled that the 'religious character' of the Shahi Idgah must be determined and dismissed contentions from the Muslim side that the cases were invalid under the Places of Worship (Special Provisions) Act, 1991. The court noted that the 1991 Act did not define 'religious character' and emphasized the need for documentary and oral evidence to resolve the matter.
