A lawyer for Liridon Rexhepi, a Kosovar man arrested in Turkiye, declared on Wednesday that his client is innocent of allegations involving financial transfers to Mossad operatives.
Rexhepi, who entered Turkiye on August 25, was formally arrested on Tuesday after admitting to the transfers. Dozens have been detained in Turkiye on espionage-related charges since January, mostly for tracking Palestinians for Israeli intelligence.
In Pristina, Rexhepi's family, represented by attorney Arianit Koci, expressed their readiness to cooperate with the investigation, insisting on his innocence. Turkiye's relationship with Israel has further complicated the scenario following the start of the Israel-Hamas conflict and Erdogan's vocal criticism of Israel.
