Congress leader and senior lawyer Abhishek Singhvi has criticized the government's misuse of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), predicting that its days as a political tool are numbered.
Singhvi, representing opposition figures including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, accused the Modi administration of distorting the PMLA to terrorize political opponents. He noted that despite securing multiple release orders under PMLA, leaders like Kejriwal face re-arrest under other pretenses, a tactic Singhvi described as manipulative and vindictive.
'The government's primary objective is to intimidate the opposition using this so-called 'Brahmastra,' but this will soon end. Courts are reacting, and we have established legal precedents that increasingly protect against such misuse,' Singhvi told PTI.
