Janata Dal (United) leader K C Tyagi criticized cow vigilantes on Wednesday, calling their actions unconstitutional amid public outcry over recent loss of lives in Haryana. Tyagi asserted no political group should perform police duties, reflecting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 2019 condemnation of such vigilantes.
Speaking to PTI editors, Tyagi highlighted the tragic death of 19-year-old Aryan Mishra, who was allegedly shot by cow vigilantes after a car chase in Faridabad. He also mentioned Sabir Malik, a migrant worker murdered in Charkhi Dadri, reportedly by the same group.
Tyagi emphasized constitutional rights to liberty, urging complaints be directed to police stations rather than political outfits acting unlawfully as enforcers. Despite stepping down as Janata Dal spokesperson, Tyagi continues to serve as the party's political advisor.
