The Supreme Court has expressed strong disapproval over the appointment of IFS officer Rahul as the director of Rajaji Tiger Reserve by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, ignoring recommendations from state officials.

The court pointed out the presence of a pending disciplinary proceeding against Rahul and questioned why the chief minister disregarded objections from the forest minister and other authorities.

Despite the state government's withdrawal of Rahul's posting on September 3, the bench emphasized the importance of public trust and accountability in executive decisions, marking the closure of the court's proceedings on the matter.
