In a significant operation, nine high-value Naxalites were killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district, a senior police official announced on Wednesday. The eliminated Maoists included Randhir from the Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee, carrying a bounty of Rs 25 lakh.

The encounter, involving personnel from the District Reserve Guard, Bastar Fighters, and Central Reserve Police Force, took place along the Dantewada-Bijapur inter-district border. The operation, conducted despite challenging monsoon conditions, delivered a severe blow to influential Maoist formations in West Bastar and Darbha divisions.

A cache of weapons, including rifles and a barrel grenade launcher, was recovered. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai praised the security forces' success and reiterated his government's commitment to ending Left-wing extremism by March 2026. This year, 153 Naxalites have been killed, and 669 have been arrested in the Bastar division.
