Indonesia is set to deport Alice Guo, a former mayor accused of ties to Chinese criminal syndicates and laundering over 100 million pesos, to the Philippines. The announcement was made by Jakarta's law minister on Wednesday.
Guo, also known as Guo Hua Ping, has denied the allegations, calling them 'malicious.' Her deportation's timing depends on ongoing police investigations, according to the law minister, Supratman Andi Agtas.
This case surfaces amid heightened suspicions about China's activities in the Philippines and ongoing territorial disputes in the South China Sea. Philippine authorities are finalizing the details for Guo's return.
