In a significant raid, Prayagraj police recovered a book likening the RSS to a terrorist organization from a madrasa while investigating a counterfeit currency case, officials reported Tuesday. The controversial book, found alongside counterfeit currency, is suspected of being used to instill anti-RSS sentiments among students.
A senior police official revealed that the raid at Jamia Habibia Masjide Azam Madrasa on August 28 uncovered fake 100-rupee notes, a laptop, and printing equipment. The book, translated from Urdu to Hindi, was identified as 'RSS: The Biggest Terrorist Organization in the Country' by SM Musharraf. The cleric, Mohammad Tafseerul Arifeen, is suspected of encouraging anti-RSS views using this material.
Despite questioning by the Local Intelligence Unit (LIU) and Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), no significant leads emerged. Four suspects linked to a counterfeit currency gang were arrested. The suspects face charges under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for counterfeiting and possessing forged notes.
