Gurugram Cyber Police have arrested Navneet Kumar Bharti, a man from Bihar, in Bengaluru for his alleged involvement in a Rs 78 lakh cyber fraud. Bharti is accused of providing bank accounts to Chinese cyber thugs, facilitating their illegal activities.
The police confiscated three mobile phones, two SIM cards, and Rs 30,000 in cash from Bharti. He is proficient in Chinese and reportedly worked closely with Chinese fraudsters, assisting them in conducting scams.
According to police reports, the case began when a local resident filed a complaint last year after losing Rs 78 lakh in a social media-based scam. Following an elaborate investigation, Bharti was apprehended on August 27. Authorities continue to probe the extent of his involvement.
