An internal inquiry by the state government into MUDA's operations uncovered significant irregularities, leading to Kumar's suspension. Kumar allegedly took several illegal actions while serving as the MUDA commissioner.
On August 16, Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot granted permission to prosecute Chief Minister Siddaramaiah under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, in connection with a MUDA case.
