Railway Employees Top Corruption Complaints Chart in India: CVC Report

The Central Vigilance Commission's latest report reveals that the highest number of corruption complaints in 2023 were against railway employees, followed by staff in Delhi's local bodies and public sector banks. The Central Vigilance Commission's (CVC) latest report highlights that railway employees were the most complained-about in corruption cases last year. According to the anti-graft watchdog, 74,203 graft complaints were registered against officers and employees across various sectors in 2023. Of these, 66,373 complaints were resolved while 7,830 remain pending.

Railway employees accounted for 10,447 complaints, with 9,881 disposed of and 566 still pending. The next highest number of complaints, 7,665, targeted staffers from various local bodies in Delhi, including the Delhi Jal Board and Delhi Transport Corporation. Of these, 7,278 cases were resolved, leaving 387 pending.

Public sector banks also featured prominently with 7,004 graft complaints, 6,667 of which have been disposed of. In contrast, other complaints were distributed across various ministries including the Coal Ministry, Labour Ministry, Petroleum Ministry, and Home Ministry, among others.
