The Directorate General of Aeronautical Quality Assurance (DGAQA) celebrated its 71st Raising Day at DRDO Bhawan, New Delhi, on August 31, 2024. The event was graced by Secretary of Defence Production, Shri Sanjeev Kumar, who served as the Chief Guest. In his address, Shri Kumar praised the DGAQA’s remarkable journey and underscored the necessity of adopting advanced Quality Assurance (QA) techniques to align with global aeronautical standards. He highlighted this advancement as crucial for achieving the vision of 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat.'

During the event, Secretary (DP) and other distinguished guests released key DGAQA documents, including the "Approval of a Firm and its Quality Management System Issue-III: 2024." This document grants greater autonomy to Indian industries in military aviation, facilitating ease of doing business.

Director General Shri Sanjay Chawla reflected on the Directorate’s growth from its inception in 1954 to its current status, with 50 establishments across India. He elaborated on the steps taken towards significant indigenization efforts, aimed at achieving self-reliance in defense manufacturing.

The DGAQA serves as the regulatory authority for the Quality Assurance of Military Aviation Stores for the Indian Air Force, Army Aviation, Naval Aviation, and the Indian Coast Guard.
