Germany Extends Trusteeship Over Rosneft Assets Amid Potential Qatar Sale
Germany will extend its trusteeship over the local units of Russia's Rosneft for six more months as they anticipate a sale of the assets to Qatar. The move is aimed at ensuring stable supply from the PCK Schwedt refinery and assisting Rosneft in negotiating a sale.
Germany is set to extend its trusteeship over the local units of Russia's Rosneft for an additional six months, sources told Reuters on Monday. This extension comes in anticipation of a sale of the assets to Qatar.
The future of Rosneft's German assets remains unresolved after Berlin took control of them amid geopolitical tensions following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. These assets include a significant 54.17% stake in the PCK Schwedt refinery.
Germany's Economy Ministry declined to comment on the matter. However, sources indicated that the trusteeship extension would enable Rosneft to negotiate a sale to Qatar, a significant investor in Germany.
