Major Drug Haul in Assam: Yaba Tablets Worth Rs 30 Crore Seized

In a significant drug bust, authorities in Assam's Cachar district seized Yaba tablets valued at approximately Rs 30 crore and apprehended three suspects, officials reported on Monday.
Karimganj Superintendent of Police Partha Protim Das revealed that an anti-narcotics operation was initiated Sunday night in the Jalalpur area under Badarpur police station, following specific intelligence on the drugs.
The operation led to the interception of a vehicle and the discovery of 1,00,000 Yaba tablets concealed in a secret compartment. The vehicle was traveling from Mizoram, Das added.
Police captured three individuals from the Katigorah police station area in Cachar, according to Das.
Market valuations estimate the seizure at around Rs 30 crore, Das noted.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma commended the Assam Police's efforts towards making the state drug-free in a post on X.
Yaba, known as 'crazy medicine' in Thai, comprises a potent mix of methamphetamine and caffeine.
