The Allahabad High Court has denied the applications for suspension of sentence and bail submitted by Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan and three others, in connection with a house trespass case from 2016 in Dungarpur township of Rampur. The original verdict was delivered by a special MP-MLA court in Rampur on March 18.

Khan, a former Uttar Pradesh minister, received a seven-year prison term while former circle officer Aley Hasan Khan, Barquat Ali alias Faqir Mohd, and Azhar Khan were sentenced to five years each. In their applications to the high court, they sought the suspension of their sentences and release on bail during the appeal process.

Justice Rajeev Mishra, in his order, stated that the court could not arrive at a definite finding at this stage. The accused were found guilty under various sections of the IPC, including house trespass and criminal intimidation. The charges stem from the forced demolition of a house in 2016, filed by Ahtesham Khan at Ganj police station in Rampur.
