In a brazen daylight robbery, five armed criminals allegedly looted jewellery worth over Rs 5 crore from a store in Rani Pur Mode, Haridwar, leaving the local community in panic. The incident unfolded on Sunday, according to police reports.

The robbers reportedly sprayed chilli powder on the shop employees, fired two warning shots into the air, and made off with valuable jewellery and cash. The daring heist took place between 1 and 1:15 pm and involved two motorcycles.

The incident spurred a protest from furious traders. Haridwar Senior Superintendent of Police Premendra Dobhal assured protestors of a swift resolution, stating that blockades have been erected and a search for the culprits is underway. The president of the Haridwar Jewellers Association, Neeraj Gupta, voiced his frustration over the lack of police response during the heist.
