Kyiv Launches Major Drone Attacks on Russia Amid Escalating Conflict

In a significant escalation of hostilities, Kyiv has launched one of its largest drone attacks on Russia since the full-scale war began. Key targets included power plants and an oil refinery, as Moscow reported advances towards a vital town in eastern Ukraine. On Sunday, officials said Russian missile strikes on Kharkiv injured over 40 people, including five children.

Amid the intensifying conflict, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy renewed calls for Western allies to allow Kyiv to fire missiles deeper into enemy territory to minimize future attacks. This appeal comes as Russia pressed its offensive in eastern Ukraine while attempting to expel Ukrainian forces from its western front.

Ukraine's rapidly expanding domestic drone industry has enabled it to step up attacks on Russian energy, military, and transport infrastructure. Meanwhile, Russia, last week, hit Ukraine with its heaviest air strikes of the conflict, targeting energy facilities in a campaign that has claimed thousands of lives since February 2022.
