President Droupadi Murmu has emphasized the necessity of eradicating the 'culture of adjournments' in courtrooms to facilitate swift justice. Speaking on Sunday at the valedictory session of the two-day National Conference of the District Judiciary, she described case pendency as a significant challenge.

Murmu urged that comprehensive efforts be made by judges nationwide to protect justice and reduce courtroom stress, coining the term 'Black court syndrome' to describe the emotional strain faced by common people. She recommended that this phenomenon be studied for better understanding.

Expressing satisfaction over the increase in the number of women judicial officers, President Murmu was joined by Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud and Union Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal at the event. During the program, held at Bharat Mandapam, she also released the flag and insignia of the Supreme Court.
