Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal on Sunday emphasized the need for collective efforts to eliminate the prevailing perception that India's justice delivery system operates on a 'taarikh pe taarikh' basis. He asserted that concerted efforts in this direction would significantly strengthen citizens' trust in the judicial system.

In his address, Meghwal proposed a critical analysis of the 'aging of pending litigation' to expedite the resolution of court cases. He praised several high courts for implementing systems that club similar cases to reduce pendency.

Speaking at the valedictory session of the national conference of district judiciary, where President Droupadi Murmu was also present, Meghwal highlighted his ministry's target of achieving 'justice for all'. This includes ensuring affordable, speedy, and technology-enabled justice delivery at the citizens' doorstep.

The minister emphasized the collective responsibility of legal professionals to dispel the 'taarikh pe taarikh' stereotype. He called for the creation of an ecosystem where even the most marginalized individuals feel that they are receiving justice, which in turn would enhance the 'trust factor' in the judicial system.
