Tripura Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind Calls for Justice in Goddess Kali Idol Desecration Case

The Tripura State Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind on Saturday demanded stringent action against individuals involved in the desecration of an idol of Goddess Kali and the subsequent arson in West Tripura district.
The organization expressed concern over the release on bail of those accused of the arson. "Today we met the West Tripura Superintendent of Police Kiran Kumar and handed over a memorandum demanding punishment for the culprits and compensation for the victims," said Mufti Taybur Rahman, president of Tripura Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind.
Rahman stated their concern about the accused getting bail was conveyed to the SP, who advised approaching the court. The incidents saw eight houses and 13 vehicles set on fire after the idol was defaced on August 26. Police registered a suo motu FIR and arrested five individuals. Local protests erupted for their release, and the accused were granted bail by a local court.
