Chandra Shekhar Azad, leader of the Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram), emphasized the necessity of conducting a caste census in Chhattisgarh and restoring a 16% quota for Scheduled Castes. The existing quota was reduced to 12% in 2012 without a proper census.
Addressing the 'Samajik Nyay Yatra' rally, Azad highlighted recent acts of arson and violence, including the desecration of a 'jaitkham,' a sacred symbol. He insisted on a CBI investigation into these events and demanded the unconditional release of those arrested in connection with the Balodabazar incidents.
Azad called for the implementation of quota rules in government job promotions and a minimum wage of Rs 700 per day for workers. A memorandum addressing these issues was submitted to the President's office, according to an official from Bhim Army Bharat Ekta Mission Chhattisgarh.
