Revenue Official Arrested for Bribery in Jammu and Kashmir
A revenue official in Ramban, Jammu and Kashmir, was arrested for accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000. Farooq Ahmad, posted as Girdawar Sanasar, demanded the bribe for processing a land record case. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered after the Anti-Corruption Bureau verified the complaint and conducted a trap operation.

A revenue official in the Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir has been apprehended following allegations of bribery. The official, identified as Farooq Ahmad, reportedly accepted a bribe of Rs 40,000.
The incident came to light when a complaint was lodged, accusing Ahmad of demanding money to process a land record extract necessary for a land sale. Verification by the Anti-Corruption Bureau confirmed the claim, leading to Ahmad's arrest and the registration of a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The bribe amount was retrieved from Ahmad in the presence of independent witnesses during the trap operation, and further investigations are ongoing.
