BSP president Mayawati has criticized the sub-classification of Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs) for reservation purposes, describing such measures as divisive. She affirmed that her party, which seeks to unite marginalized castes, would not compromise on this issue.
Mayawati also targeted the Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu governments, especially the Congress-led administrations, for their approach to this issue ahead of the Supreme Court's recent verdict. She expressed that these state policies were inappropriate and condemned such political strategies.
Highlighting the Supreme Court's August 1 decision, which allows sub-classification within SCs, Mayawati stressed that any such classification should be based on quantifiable data, rather than political motives. She also warned party members who supported classification policies to align with BSP's mission or leave.
